Android Minecraft test

Android Minecraft test Video Clips. Duration : 2.30 Mins.

An experimental minecraft client running on a Samsung Galaxy S. Above ground, each frame takes about 30-40ms to render, not ideal, but workable. Down in the mines, I can cull more aggressively and get down to 13-16ms, which is buttery smooth. Amusingly, this is not far off the performance I can get with my laptop. All code is in Java, and I'm still stuck on Android 2.1 so this is with no JIT and no VBOs. There's still loads of room for further optimisation and visibility culling. The trippy motion blur and bloom effects are purely down to the not-very-good camera. Note that I'm not associated with Notch or Mojang, this is just a test to see if it could be done. I have no plans to take this anywhere close to being playable, or even to distribute it. Of course, if Notch were to go a bit mental and offer me a job/source licence/revenue sharing deal, I'd bite his hand off at the shoulder. Otherwise, we'll just have to wait and see if Mojang make a client (likely I reckon) or until they release the source. You can also now download the apk at code.google.com see the instructions at minedroid.googlecode.com for installation and use I'll be tweeting at twitter.com when new versions are released
